Warming up this blog

This weekend I was in San Francisco (my favourite city on the planet!) and the weather was absolutely perfect, so on Saturday I went for a little walk and took a few photos on my iPhone.  Starting at Union Square, I headed down to the Ferry Building, along to Fisherman's Wharf and reached Fort Mason, the old army facility where views of the Golden Gate Bridge start to kick in...

Walking on to the marina area, I came across some kind of kite festival, before reaching the bridge itself...

I carried on through the beautiful Presidio area, reaching Baker Beach (below) where believe it or not I am sure I spotted the actor Tom Skerritt (who played Viper in Top Gun!) - cue lots of Top Gun quotes!

Forced inland a little by cliffs, the walk then took me past what must be some of San Francisco's most fabulous houses, along 'El Camino Del Mar' and then I was pleasantly surprised to find myself at "Lands End" - San Francisco style.

My walk then followed a fantastic coastal path, formerly the line of a famous tram route from the city to the 'Cliff House' at one end of the 5 mile Ocean Beach, facing out to the Pacific.

I wandered along a bit further, then turned left into the Golden Gate park before finally rejoining urban streets, some 6 hours after leaving my hotel.  Visitors to San Francisco, trust me and check this coastal walk out!
